Andrew S. Dhanoo BSc. RPT. PhD. (candidate)

Mr. Dhanoo is a lecturer of Biochemistry at the School of Nursing -Faculty of Medical Sciences, Department of Food production- Faculty of Food and Agriculture and a Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Life Sciences. He is currently the President of the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago, although he is the youngest member on the board. At the DATT, he has spearheaded several national diabetes screening and education projects including the DATT EXPO 2017, national primary school’s diabetes quiz and cooking competitions.

Mr. Dhanoo is currently a doctorial candidate at the UWI St. Augustine. Pursuing a PhD in clinical biochemistry and diabetes research. His work involves the investigation of novel non-invasive methods of diabetes screening and testing, which is of particular interest in screening children for diabetes risk. He is also an advocate for health and fitness and is working on numerous intervention programs geared towards overweight children and their patents trough

dietary and activity modification.

After graduating from the UWI with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry with first class honors in 2012. Mr. Dhanoo then worked as a Research Associate/Project Coordinator on projects with Johns Hopkins University under the Trinidad and Tobago Heath Sciences Initiative (TTHSI). He has published numerous papers and presented at conferences including UDOP, Child NCD and CARPHA.
